Welcome to Jeep’s Blog!

Picture1Since making our twice weekly rounds to the schools last Spring, Jeep’s popularity has continued to soar.  Jeep’s personality is certainly suited to the work of a therapy dog.  She is extremely calm, especially for a puppy.  She loves visiting students and staff alike.  A number of parents have shared with me just how much their children talk about Jeep at home.

Hopefully students, staff and families will enjoy reading up on the antics of Jeep as she continues her training journey.  I appreciate how Jeep has helped me to connect with children and with staff.  As a superintendent, I know I have a much clearer understanding of the day to day operations of all our schools.

Thank you for allowing us both to be part of the greater Lake Villa community!

Sincerely,

Dr. Lynette Zimmer, Jeep’s human sidekick and partnerFullSizeRender (9)

Happy 1st Birthday Harry!

WOW!! Our little guy is one year old today! He has sure grown up fast and there is a lot more growing still to come. He has given our family and our school friends lots of love – now if I can just get him to stop giving everybody kisses! Happy Birthday Little Fluff!!!

There is no way I can pick him up now – but we still get lots of snuggles in!

Happy 8th Birthday Jeep!

It is hard to believe that our big white fluffy is 8 years old!!! She is such a good girl. She had fun celebrating her special day with Dottie Com and Harry.

Harry, the puppy, recently turned 11 months old. His birthday is coming up soon – January 31st! Harry and Jeep are getting harder to tell who is who – there is a lot of white fluff to go around!

A Pair of Pyrs

This morning the pyrs enjoyed a great game of rough house. They actually knocked furniture over! Queen Jeep, despite now being shorter than Harry, still maintains the upper edge. Harry defers to Jeep in all things including allowing her to be the first one out the door. Good boy, Harry – you know who is boss!

Harry Turns 9 Months Old

Who is the BIG boy? Harry is now taller than Jeep! He weighs 85 pounds. Jeep is a bit heavier at 103 pounds. The little puppy man still has a lot of growing to do.

They both enjoyed yesterday’s first snowfall! Nothing like cold weather to make a Great Pyrenees happy!

Pyr Playtime

The two Pyrenees enjoy rough-and-tumble play every day. Sometimes when Jeep and Harry start going at it, we have to shoo them outside so they don’t break anything in the house. They get quite rambunctious! They enjoy using their wide mouths to play bite. Harry is usually the instigator, and he tries to give Jeep a run for her money.

At least for the next few months, Jeep has the upper hand. I hope she enjoys it while she can!

Are those two pyrs happy or what?

Jeep’s Retirement Parade

Yesterday Martin Elementary School went all out to wish Jeep and me a happy upcoming retirement. Jeep and I were so surprised and touched by the kindness of Martin’s students and staff! We received flowers, cards, dog treats, cake, and matching scarves. Jeep was very proud to walk the hallways and see her friends. We both appreciate the hard work done behind the scenes by Mrs. Jennifer Carter to pull this huge surprise off! What a beautiful memory for us!

Be sure to check out the Daily Herald’s coverage of the event.
